NEW: PhD Research Fellowship in Behavioral Supply Chain Management
Eligibility: Exceptional applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. All applicants must, at a minimum, fulfill all of the admissions requirements for the PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in order to be considered. While applicants are expected to have an aptitude for analytical thinking, a previous degree in engineering is not required. Furthermore, candidates should have excellent research and writing skills, and be fluent in English. Spanish is not a requirement. Knowledge on experimental design is highly desirable.
Coverage: The fellow is appointed for one year with annual renewals, dependent on performance, for three consecutive years (four years in total) and will receive a monthly stipend of €1.250 gross, which includes National Health Service, as well as accident insurance. Furthermore there is funding for training activities and for travel related to the research project.
Tasks: As part of the research group of the Supply Chain Management Laboratory (scmLAB), the candidate should conduct empirical research to develop and test theories related to (inter)organizational learning in supply chains to be published in top international scientific journals. Scholarship Program
General information
:
All admitted PhD students, regardless of need and background, who submit an application and fulfill all of the conditions and requirements established in the call for applications, are awarded a scholarship. The allocated amounts are regulated by the annual call for applications based on the 2+2 pre-doctoral training program which involves offering a two-year pre-doctoral grant followed by a two-year work experience placement contract.
Coverage
:
Stipend.
In the case of a stipend, corresponding to the first two years of a scholarship, the monthly endowment is €1,050 gross, which comes to an annual total of €12.600 gross, payable in equal installments at the end of each month over a 12-month period. No income tax will be deducted from the stipend (social security will be deducted although it is very little) and it will be revised yearly in line with the adjusted interannual rate of inflation.
Work experience placement contract
. During the period of the work experience contract, corresponding to the last two years, PhD students will sign a work experience contract with a salary of €1,181.25 per month, which comes to an annual total of €14,175 gross, payable in equal installments at the end of each month over a 12-month period. Income tax (low) and social security (low) will be deducted from this amount and it will be revised each year in line with the adjusted interannual rate of inflation.
Fellowship to cover all tuition and academic fees pertaining to PhDs
. These include: the ZLOG Master’s tuition, tuition and fees for official doctoral credits, academic fees pertaining to the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) and general administrative fees (for opening student files, forms, issuing PhD certificates, etc).
Additional endowment.
€1.000 net/year towards training to defray the costs of software and participation in conferences and/or courses. Attendance of a conference and/or a course is dependent upon prior assessment and authorization by the thesis director/ tutor and by the Director of the PhD Program.

Inclusion in the ZLC company accident insurance policy.

Lastly, the ZLC shall take out CUM LAUDE accident insurance cover provided by Banco Santander on behalf of its PhD students, as set out in the regulations of the University of Zaragoza.
Short stays at other R&D centers and/or universities.
The short placements are subject to the approval of the Director of the PhD Program.

At the end of the second year the PhD students will have to pass a comprehensive exam in front of a jury, exam that will lead the student to receive a Diploma of Advanced Studies from the University of Zaragoza.

3rd year
|
Once granted this diploma the student will form a work experience placement with Zaragoza Logistics Center for two years, during which the student will receive a monthly payment of €1.170 gross. The PhD student will have the same Rights as a ZLC employee (vacations, National Social Service, accident insurance etc.)

4th year
|
All scholarships are contingent upon a student's satisfactory academic progress.

Students that do not complete the PhD degree will not be awarded the ZLOG diploma unless they are willing to cover for tuition and successfully complete the ZLOG required courses.
