Eduardo Orri Vidal
(ZLOG Class of 2011)
1. Describe your current job responsibilities
I am currently responsible for a product line within the HP Graphic Solution business. As an EMEA planner I am in charge of maintaining the right balance between cost, availability and inventory across the supply chain in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
2. Describe your career path before you attended ZLOG
After graduating with a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, I ended up working for a Logistics Research Institute in my home town, Valencia. There, I was exposed to different industries and got the chance to participate in several projects related to inventory management, facility layout design and transport optimization. It was my first professional experience since graduating.
3. Why did you decide to attend ZLOG?
We are living in a truly global environment where worldwide companies are expanding operations overseas. More and more businesses are establishing a global supply chain in order to maintain their competitiveness. With this scheme, companies are in need of global professionals and that is what the ZLOG program gives you after 9 months of training: international exposure and a global perspective in supply chain management.
4. What are the most valuable assets you gained through your ZLOG experience?
I would say that the most important asset is the people you met, followed by the exposure to international companies. Ex-alumni, classmates, professors and executives are now part of my network who could play an important role in my future.
5. How did your ZLOG degree impact your job search?
The ZLOG program is a partnership between ZLC and MIT and that means a lot for companies. Given the reputation of a world renown institution like MIT, after the program you will be on top the list of any recruiter.
6. Does your ZLOG education affect the way you currently do your job?
Absolutely, on a daily basis I have to solve similar problems to the ones we saw in class. And most importantly, I now have the skills and abilities to deal with different people in a truly global environment.
7. What would you say to a prospective student thinking about joining the ZLOG program?
Don’t hesitate for second, this is an opportunity that, if given the chance you will never regret. Most importantly, do not get discouraged if you lack professional experience. In this program there is a wide range of backgrounds which make the ZLOG unique and special.
