1. Describe your current job responsibilities:
I am currently a Customer Services Analyst, at CATERPILLAR Distribution Services. Based in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai, UAE, this is our start up facility and I am a part of the Customer Services Group. Our team is the main point of contact for the dealers in the Middle East and North East Africa for all service parts distribution activities, including parts quality & operations, parts availability and order fulfillment. Our team works both proactively in identifying how to improve customer satisfaction in service parts distribution through improved collaboration between Caterpillar and its dealers, and also reactively, ensuring an efficient and professional day to day activity of order processing and fulfillment.
2. Describe your career path before you attended ZLOG:
After completion of my BSc in Information Systems, Skyline College from Sharjah I started my career at Redington Gulf, (Dubai) which is an IT Distribution Company in the Middle East. I worked for over three years in the Product team and learnt different functionalities within the Supply chain: Inventory Management, order fulfillment and customer relationship management. Then I decided to get back to Academics and pursue my post graduation studies. I completed my International MBA from Griffith University in Australia from which doors opened to the ZLOG program.
3. Why did you decide to attend ZLOG?
I wanted to broaden my horizon and knowledge in the field of Supply Chain and Logistics as well as understand the dynamics/analytics which support the decisions of Supply Chain Managers. The ZLOG program offered a perfect blend of both.
4. What are the most valuable assets you gained through your ZLOG experience?
The ZLOG program was a great experience. Some of the valuable assets: Being associated with a prestigious university such as MIT; Improved Analytical, Decision-making and Time Management skills; Networking with global companies and meeting people with different experiences from different industries.
5. How did your ZLOG degree impact your job search?
One of my projects during the ZLOG program played an important role by providing me clarity for the job profile I was looking for.
6. Does your ZLOG education affect the way you currently do your job?
Yes, it helps me understand the dynamics of the way the CAT business functions. Even though the facility is still in its elementary stages, the knowledge gained at ZLOG will help me take up some challenging projects that I am aiming to work for within the company.
7. What would you say to a prospective student thinking about joining the ZLOG program
If you want to take up challenges, have the mindset to deal with uncertainty, want to stand out as a professional, take up the ZLOG program! It will be an interesting and a memorable journey!
