Damco(USA)
(ZLOG Class of 2012)

1. Describe your current job responsibilities:
Responsible for purchasing and drawing up contracts with global suppliers for over 200 different raw materials used in making all the products within the Beiersdorf portfolio (Nivea, Eucerin, 8x4, La Prairie, Labello, Juvena, Florena).

2. Describe your career path before you attended ZLOG:
I was a management trainee for Maersk (Danish Shipping and Transportation Company) where i held several positions (marketing, IT, sales, and import/export logistics analyst) both in the US and in Spain.

3. Why did you decide to attend ZLOG?
I learned about ZLOG through the dual degree program offered by IE Business school where i was getting my MBA.  While doing my MBA studies I realized the shortage of supply chain professionals within my class, and I strongly felt, due to my experience at Maersk, I could enter into the niche of supply chain management.  I knew ZLOG would provide me with the necessary tools to make me even better prepared to take on an important role within a global organization.

4. What are the most valuable assets you gained through your ZLOG experience?
I further developed  my analytical skills - fusing mathematics with strategic supply chain decisions.  In addition, I care away from ZLOG after working with people from all over the world which is an irreplaceable asset when working in global organizations.  You learn how different cultures communicate and work which can be the difference between success and failure in business.

5. How did your ZLOG degree impact your job search?
It increased my job offers three-fold.  ZLOG has an excellent reputation with global companies which allows ZLOG candidates to be at the forefront for most job opportunities.

6. Does your ZLOG education affect the way you currently do your job?
Most definitely.  I have a new found appreciation for analytics when making business decisions.  ZLOG also emphasized coordination among supply chain partners so you quickly learn that no matter what your individual role within an organization, as a supply chain professional your work is cross-functional and you must talk across companies and departments to come up with good solutions for the betterment of everyone.

7. What would you say to a prospective student thinking about joining the ZLOG program?
If you would like to get into the dynamic and demanding field of logistics or supply chain management, the ZLOG program provides you with tools to make an immediate impact on your future role in any company.
