» Evaluation enterprise cooperation through information exchange»

The presentation will have two main sections. First, I will introduce the audience to the Research Center for Information Technology (CTI) and the research areas being developed there. Special focus will be given to research applications I have developed as part of my work at CTI in auto-part supply chain design, sugar cane harvest scheduling, analysis of forming units in the white line company, and mixture planning optimization for the food industry. The second part of the presentation will focus on a specific research project where we present a method for evaluating the enterprise cooperation focused on the exchange of information among firms. Two indexes are used: the intensity, which seeks to measure the amount of information shared; and the extension, which seeks to measure how many stages of the supply chain are exchanging information both upstream and downstream.

Bio

Dr. Carvalho is a Titular Researcher at the Research Center for Information Technology (Centro de Tecnologia da Informação Renato Archer – CTI) holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Universidade Estadual de Campinas, a Masters from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and an Electrical Engineering degree from Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora. His research focuses on the development of methods for analysis and improvement of production systems. His initial work consisted in the development of efficient algorithms for optimization of reservoirs for the Brazilian hydroelectric system, and after joining the Center for Information Technology, turned to the study of methodologies applicable to manufacturing systems. His current research interests are supply chain management, production planning, and network flows for manufacturing and logistics planning.
