«Markov Decision processes and the cognitive paradigm: Applications in the configuration and control of manufacturing systems»
Abstract
The comparison of the Markov decision process with the cognitive paradigm provides interesting insights to stimulate research in this area. Stochastic specialized models embedded in multi-agents systems may contribute to the configuration and control of smart and adaptive processes. Particular interest is put on phase type queuing models to represent inventory, quality control and equipment health through the different process stages. A software agent architecture matching the approach is proposed to apply it in practice.
