"Made in Transit"

'Made in Transit' is a supply chain concept in which the production of fresh perishable food happens on the way to the supermarket, shifting the paradigm of packaging from preserving freshness to enabling growth, a shift from 'best before' to 'ready by'. Time and space normally captured by goods in transit is used to enable growth, eliminating or drastically reducing land-based growth, replacing post-harvest technology with growth-enabling technology, and bringing the harvest and consumption together.

Born in Poland 1979, Agata Jaworska has spent most of her life in Toronto, Canada where she recieved a Bachelor of Interior Design with honours at Ryerson University (2002), and designed 'A Single Line', the Ryerson chair which won her Best of Canada in 2003. As an interior designer in Toronto she worked for a seven person design studio and then a seven hundred person design company, all the while teaching at George Brown College and Ryerson University, and exhibiting her own products in New York, London and Milan. In 2005 she moved to the Netherlands to pursue a Masters at the Design Academy Eindhoven where she graduated cum laude in 2007, with 'Made in Transit' as her master thesis project, which has since been exhibited at Utrecht Manifest and at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Based in Amsterdam, she currently freelances for design company Droog, for jewellery designer Gijs Bakker, and the PARS foundation, while further pursuing the 'Made in Transit' project.
