Josep, tell us about your career path since graduating from the MIT Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) in 2017 to your current role as Site Manager at Logisfashion. How has your education at ZLC influenced your professional life?
I have to admit that my time al ZLC and the ZLOG program has truly been a game- changer for me. One of the standout highlights has been the incredible network of top- class professionals I had the privilege of connecting with. Thanks to this network, doors and exciting opportunities swung wide open, and leaving lasting imprint on my professional life.
What’s even more important is how the practical knowledge I have picked up at ZLC isn’t’ just textbook stuff, it’s the king of know-how I can apply to my daily tasks.
ZLC is known for its diverse and international student body. How did the multicultural environment and collaboration with students from various backgrounds impact your learning experience? In what ways did this diversity contribute to a holistic understanding of global logistics and supply chain dynamics?
The multicultural environment at ZLC, posed a unique challenge, pushed me to study and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and nationalities. This experience not only broadened my perspectives but also equipped me with new skills to apply this knowledge to real world scenarios. This enriched my understanding of the interconnectedness and real-world application of supply chain strategies across diverse regiones fostering adaptability and cultural awareness.
Given your experience in the logistics sector, could you share some of the most significant challenges you have faced in your area? How have you applied the knowledge gained during the master’s program to address these challenges in your current role?
I have faced a wide range of challenges during my professional life after the program, as everyone working in the logistics sector, the COVID period demanded rapid adaptation. Applying lessons from the ZLOG program, I maintained control under extreme pressure. Navigating this new era, the knowledge became a lifeline, ensuring resilience and effective decision-making.
Recently, after being relocated to a different part of the world introduced a fresh set of challenges. Forcing me to adapt to work with a completely different team has been a journey where cross-cultural understanding its needed, and the time at ZLC provided me the ability to navigate with this transition.
I understand you spent some time in the Canary Islands. Could you share your experiences during that period and how it may have influenced your approach to logistics and supply chain management? Did the unique setting contribute to your professional development in any particular way?
During my short experience in the Canary Islands, I have to admit that this was a transformative experience. The unique setting, with its challenges of building from scratch, hone my skills in managing uncertainty. Facing new challenges where I had to create processes from zero greatly influenced my approach to logistics and supply chain management. It was a valuable lesson in adaptability and resilience, contributing significantly to my professional development.
A little bird told us that you have recently crossed the pond, what projects are you currently leading in Chile, and how do they align with the skills and knowledge you gained from ZLOG program?
Yes, I have crossed the ocean for a new and exciting professional challenge, marking a significant personal adventure and milestone. I’m currently leading a new multi-client DC here in Chile, aligning with the skills from the ZLOG program. This involves establishing processes, raising standards in line with our company, managing expectations and tackling challenges in an organised manner.
