Aragón Plataforma Logística and ZLC establish a chair to strengthen Aragón’s logistics strategy

The new APL Aragón Logistics Strategy Chair will promote applied research, specialized education and knowledge transfer among academia, businesses and Aragón’s logistics platforms.

Zaragoza, 21 July 2026. Aragón Plataforma Logística (APL) and Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) have signed a collaboration agreement to establish the APL Aragón Logistics Strategy Chair, an initiative aimed at generating and disseminating advanced knowledge in logistics and supply chain management, to contribute to the implementation of the Strategic Logistics Plan for Aragon, while strengthening Aragón’s international positioning as a leading European logistics hub.

The signing ceremony took place at the Pignatelli Building and was attended by Raquel Campos, Director General for Logistics Planning and Territorial Planning of the Government of Aragón; Pedro Sas, Managing Director of Aragón Plataforma Logística; Isabel Nuez, Managing Director of ZLC; and Rafael de Miguel, Academic Director of ZLC.

The agreement was signed by Pedro Sas and Isabel Nuez on behalf of APL and ZLC, respectively.

A long-term partnership between infrastructure, industry and academia
The Chair will promote research projects, doctoral theses in the official PhD program in logistics, master’s theses, training activities, conferences, seminars and workshops, as well as student internships, visits to logistics platforms and the participation of industry professionals and companies in ZLC’s academic activities.

It also provides for the creation of the Aragón Logistics Scholarships, aimed at facilitating access for talent connected to Aragón to Zaragoza Logistics Center’s master’s programmes in two categories: one for the ZLOG Master’s program within the MIT SCALE Network, and another for recent University of Zaragoza graduates enrolling in the MDSC Master’s program.

“This Chair reinforces the Government of Aragón’s commitment to logistics as a strategic sector and one of the region’s main competitive advantages. Our future leadership will depend on our ability to continue generating knowledge, attracting talent and fostering innovation,” said Raquel Campos.

Pedro Sas added that “the partnership with ZLC will further strengthen the connection between Aragón’s logistics platforms, research, education and the real needs of companies.”

Isabel Nuez underlined that “this initiative reinforces ZLC’s mission to contribute to the economic and logistics development of Aragón through education, research and knowledge transfer, while also promoting Aragón’s logistics model internationally.” In this regard, Rafael de Miguel added that “this Chair, similar to the institutional and corporate chairs at the University of Zaragoza, will create new opportunities to generate and transfer knowledga for students and researchers to address strategic challenges within an internationally oriented academic environment.”

APL will contribute €35,000 per year to support the Chair’s activities. The agreement will have an initial duration of two years, renewable for successive annual periods, and will be overseen by a Joint Monitoring Committee comprising representatives from both organisations.

Aragón as an international benchmark in logistics and supply chain management
The creation of the APL Aragón Logistics Strategy Chair strengthens cooperation between the Government of Aragón, its public-sector organisations and Zaragoza Logistics Center, helping to consolidate an ecosystem that brings together infrastructure, companies, research, innovation and international education.

Aragón Plataforma Logística is the public-sector company responsible for the promotion, management and development of the region’s logistics platforms, as well as their associated infrastructure, facilities and services. Its activity helps enhance regional competitiveness and attract investment linked to logistics, industry and distribution.

Zaragoza Logistics Center is an international centre of excellence in research and education in logistics and supply chain management, promoted by the Government of Aragón, affiliated with the University of Zaragoza and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As the Spanish centre of the MIT Global SCALE Network, ZLC promotes international education, applied innovation and knowledge transfer, connecting academia with the needs of companies and society.

Through this new Chair, APL and ZLC are strengthening cooperation between industry and academia and advancing a shared strategy to position Aragón as a European benchmark in global logistics, innovation, sustainability, talent attraction and advanced supply chain management.
