Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) hosted the meeting of the European ReSKILLING project, an initiative analyzing the socioeconomic impact of connected, cooperative, and automated mobility and promoting the development of new professional skills to address labor market changes.
Zaragoza, March 12, 2026
The event brought together representatives from academic institutions, research centers, sector organizations, and industrial partners from various European countries that are part of the project consortium. The day combined in-person and hybrid participation and served to review progress on the project's different workstreams.

The ReSKILLING project, funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe program, aims to promote a strategic approach that prepares the workforce and companies in the mobility sector—both passenger and freight—for the changes brought by connected, cooperative, and automated mobility (CCAM). At the same time, the initiative seeks active participation from different stakeholders in the evolution and improvement of the mobility ecosystem in Europe.
To this end, the project develops and validates an innovative set of services, tools, and methodologies designed to facilitate the sector’s adaptation to these new technologies. Key workstreams include analyzing the socioeconomic and labor impacts of CCAM across the value chain, helping companies and workers mitigate potential negative effects while leveraging opportunities arising from technological transformation in transportation.
ReSKILLING also promotes the development of new business models and training mechanisms to update and adapt professional skills needed in the sector. The project is based on principles of inclusivity, co-creation, and social innovation, with particular attention to the replicability and transferability of results to enable adoption in different European contexts.

Within this framework, ZLC leads two key areas of the project. First, the identification and analysis of professions and job profiles across the CCAM service value chain, including emerging roles and qualification needs associated with various automation levels. Second, the development of new re- and upskilling programs to facilitate labor transitions and help professionals adapt to the technological, operational, and organizational requirements introduced by CCAM solutions.
The agenda included sessions to validate these profiles, compare training needs with sector stakeholders, advance curriculum development, build a roadmap for labor transitions, and carry out project communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities.
“Technological transformation in transportation requires anticipating how professional skills will evolve and preparing companies and workers to seize emerging opportunities. European projects like ReSKILLING allow ZLC to combine research and education and integrate new skills into the center’s curriculum,” said Carolina Ciprés, ZLC Research Director.

ZLC’s participation in ReSKILLING reinforces its role as an international center of excellence in logistics and supply chain research and education, contributing to innovative solutions that promote a more sustainable, resilient, and competitive transport system in Europe. Based in Zaragoza, ZLC is a research institute promoted by the Government of Aragón in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Zaragoza, and is part of the global MIT Global SCALE network.
