Project description
eRBANITY addresses an important socio-geographical challenge: analyzing the social and spatiotemporal effects of transport accessibility to major urban activities in a highly digitalized society. Specifically, eRBANITY aims to explore the competitive dynamics between electronic activities (e.g., teleworking, e-commerce, or electronic leisure) and their physical counterparts (e.g., work, physical shopping, leisure), and how these dynamics impact the spatial relocation of daily activities and their role in reshaping inequalities related to accessibility, giving the project a marked social character. Additionally, in the framework of this project, a grant has been awarded to hire a PhD student.
The project also stands out for its interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature at the interface between geography, urban planning, geomatic engineering, and architecture.
This project is funded by the 2023 National Plan for Knowledge Generation Projects call. The aim of this call is to finance research projects focused on generating new scientific knowledge, as well as advancing existing knowledge, through excellence in research, resulting in solutions to current societal challenges.
