
Dr. Beatriz Royo is an Associate Professor at the MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program, affiliated with the Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC). She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering in the field of Transport Optimization from the University of Zaragoza, focusing on long-distance transportation by road, vehicle routing, hub location allocation problems, and ant colony optimization. She also earned an MSc in Mechanical Systems Engineering and completed additional studies in Blockchain Management and Advanced System Dynamics.
Her main research areas include network design, supply chain collaboration, digitalization, and sustainability, with a focus on integrating environmental objectives, digital technologies, and data-driven optimization into logistics systems. Dr. Royo’s research combines modeling, simulation, and optimization to improve performance and environmental efficiency in supply chains, urban freight transport, and circular economy transitions.
She actively collaborates with European and international research consortia and has participated as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI in multiple EU-funded projects under Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, such as IS2H4C, LEAD, INDIMO, SPROUT, EcoLogistics, and SELIS. Her work bridges academia and industry, driving innovation, digital transformation, and decarbonization in logistics and supply chain management.
Dr. Royo is also deeply engaged in executive education and master’s programs, teaching subjects such as Digital Transformation, Sustainability and Decarbonization, and Supply Chain Innovation to professionals and graduate students.

The Supply Chain Digitalization Research Group is focused on how digital technologies enable the supply chain to attain situational awareness and context-sensitive decision making, becoming customer-driven, agile and responsive.

Sustainable Networks Group investigates how environmental concerns could be integrated into operational decision making throughout the supply chain.
