We transform global challenges into real solutions through high-impact collaborative projects.
At ZLC, we view research as a transformative tool to solve real-world challenges in the logistics sector. As a member of the MIT Global SCALE Network—a world-renowned alliance for supply chain research and education—we actively participate in projects funded at regional, national, and international levels. These projects are carried out both independently and in collaboration with universities, companies, and public institutions.
Our projects focus on key areas such as sustainability, process digitalization, urban mobility, risk management, and resource planning. We collaborate with European organizations such as Horizon Europe, with the Government of Aragón, and with the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, as well as with major multinationals and innovative SMEs.
Through this work, we transfer knowledge to the productive sector and position Zaragoza as a leading logistics hub in Europe.

Official reference: Description In most for-profit organizations, a situation where two very distinct metrics are used to evaluate the overall performance of a supply chain is dealt by creating two different supply chains: a cost-efficient one and a responsive...
Description Aiming to improve the knowledge transfer to this sector of strategic importance for regional development, the following activities related to the logistics sector and in particular, the area of Aragón, but which are not limited to this geographic area,...
Beneficiaries & Implementing bodies See list below The main objectives of the action is to design the architecture and to develop a pre-deployment pilot interoperable ICT platform (the “MIELE Middleware”) able to interface ICT systems (i.e. single windows, port...
Project Description A current common practice when designing supply chain networks is to consider reduced level of inventory, Just-in-Time deliveries, and minimal redundancy in the network. Clearly, these practices reduce operational costs to a minimum. However, the side effect of...
Project Description Facility location optimization is an optimization problem in operations research, particularly in network design decisions in the supply chain. In it most standard form (the Uncapacited Facility Location Problem), the problem can be stated as follows: Given facilities...
Project Description SoCool@EU (Sustainable Organisation between Clusters of Optimised Logistics @ Europe) is a European Regions of Knowledge project through which 5 world-class European clusters have joined forces to create an open European hub for regional innovation in logistics and...
Project Description This project aims at analyzing the problems stemming from the urban freight distribution in the city of Zaragoza. Its goal is to design a series of demonstrators to prove different actions aiming at improving the supply conditions. The...
Description CO2 LOGISTIC is the development of an IT tool that will permit the integration of the methodology and the knowledge generated during the project, in such a way that the information can be made accessible to the current market,...
